TWO VOLUMES. Reprints of the 1907 and 1908 Miniature editions. 8vo, (6.1 x 4.3 inches). Both volumes are beautifully Illustrated throughout, with forty-two and fifty line engravings respectively, by John Tenniel. Tissue guard to both frontipieces. Neat 3 line inscription, dated 1929, to the front blank endpapers of each volume. Bright, clean copies, finely bound, by Riviere & son, in early full dark brown tree calf bindings. Decorative floral roll borders on all four boards with central illustrations of the March Hare and the Red Queen, all in gilt. Spines with raised bands, each with gilt piping. The compartments triple ruled and fully decorated in gilt. Two labels on each - one red and one tan, ruled and lettered in gilt. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Turn-ins with fully gilt decorative borders. Both spines have some minimal rubbing but overall these are still a better than very good attractive pair of these classic children's books.
