Spine with raised bands, the compartments double ruled in gilt. Green morocco label, gilt. Double gilt ruled lines to the board edges and to the turn ins of the inner boards. All edges gilt. A couple of toned marks to the spine but still overall a near fine copy in an attractive early leather binding. -- Leonard Arthur Lyall worked for the Chinese customs authorities until 1927, and then took a post as assessor on the Opium Advisory Committee of the League of Nations. He was the author and translator of several books relating to China.
