Hodder and Stoughton. London. No Date. 1911.
FIRST EDITION. 1st printing. Large 8vo, (8 x 5.8 inches). Complete with mono illustrated title and twelve full page plates by Bedford. Gilt decorated green cloth boards illustrated with Peter Pan, two Mermaids and the Crocodile, all within a decorative border, on front board. Spine with lettering and illustration including Captain Hook, Peter Pan, two Mermaids and some Fairies, all stamped in gilt. Cloth binding in excellent condition with the gilt still bright and fresh and the cloth clean and unfaded. Internally this is generally a very good, tight copy that suffers from some foxing to the page edges, not affecting the text for the most part and confined to the blank margins, although a handful of pages are a bit worse. The endpapers have some light offsetting as a result of the glue used in production and neat previous owner name, dated 1911, on the front blank free endpaper otherwise this is a very good, bright copy of this classic book. ----- First editions of this famous book in collectable condition are getting harder to find and most copies suffer from foxing to the text pages to some degree or other. Copies with the cloth and gilt still lovely and as bright as this rarely come on the market. ----- The true First printing of this classic title, featuring Captain Hook, Never-Never Land, The Lost Boys, Nana and, of course, Tinkerbell (or Tinker Bell as she is named in this story).
