Compartments ruled, lettered and dotted in gilt. Single ruled border to boards with three dots to each corner and oval coat of arms in the centre, all in gilt. Board edges ruled in gilt. marbled endpapers with triple gilt ruled lines to the turn-ins. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Some foxing throughout the text but the binding still fine and overall a very attractive book. --- A new translation of the maxims that first appeared in 1665. This translation was first issued in a limited edition in 1931.
