Engraved & Published by Henry Stone. Washington City, D.C. USA. 1824.
FIRST EDITION. (9.4 x 7.6 inches). Title page, 4pp text ("Retsch's illustrations of Faust", an anonymous essay), 26 full page engraved plates by noted American artist Stone. Neat five line presentation inscription in French, dated January 1825, on the front blank free endpaper. A clean and bright copy throughout. Early binding of tan sheep spine with gilt ruled lines, lettering and decorations. Plain brown paper covered boards. There is some loss to the top and bottom of the spine and spotting to the boards but overall a very good copy of this scarce title. An uncommon edition with just five physical copies showing up on a search of Worldcat.
