Westminster Gazette. London. 1894.
FIRST EDITION, first issue. 8vo. (7.2 x 5.6 inches). Four full page mono plates and front cover illustration by Rackham. This first issue (published July 1894) has "Dolly" as the running headline on the text pages and "price one shilling" at the extreme lower right corner of the front wrapper; subsequent issues have "The Dolly Dialogues" as the running headline and the price is higher up the page. Original pale yellow pictorial wrappers, with dark blue lettering and illustration toned in lighter blue. Some wear and soiling to wrappers, especially on spine, which has had some professional repair work. A few spots of foxing to the page edges but generally a clean copy throughout. Neat armorial bookplate on inside front cover and there is another loosely inserted Rackham-esque bookplate. Housed in a beige cloth covered clam-shell case with gilt lettering to the spine. --- The second published work to feature illustrations by Rackham but the first book to be wholly illustrated by him. -- Riall. pages 2 -3.
