The Nonesuch Press. London. 1938, 1938.

LIMITED EDITION. Two volumes. Tall 8vo. (10.4 x 6.8 inches). One of 850 numbered sets, designed by Francis Meynell, printed in Great Britain by R. MacLehose and Company, and bound by the Leighton-Straker Bookbinding Company. Beautifully illustrated with numerous wood engravings by Eric Ravilious. Two maps of Selborne, one fiolding. Publishers grey buckram with gilt illustrations to the front boards. Spines ruled, lettered and illustrated in gilt. Cream endpapers. Top edges gilt, the others untrimmed. Fine and bright copies throughout. Just a hint of fading to the spines but the bindings are clean and sharp, with the gilt still vibrant and bright. Housed in the original marbled paper covered slip-case, which has a little rubbing to the extremities but is still very good and has done its job of keeping the books in such lovely condition. A superior set of this beautiful edition.
