The hand coloured portrait frontis is a fine steel engraving of the original Sir Joshua Reynolds painting of Goldsmith, painted for Henry Thrale in about 1772. A Lovely clean copy in fine early twentieth century leather binding by Bayntun (Riviere) of Bath. Half dark brown morocco. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt floral roll. Compartments with double ruled gilt borders and decorative tool to centre. Gilt lettering. Boards coverted with tan cloth. Top edge gilt, the others untrimmed. Marbled endpapers. A fine copy in a beautiful quality binding.:.
