A lovely copy. ------This famous and highly controversial lesbian novel became the target of a campaign by the editor of the Sunday Express newspaper, who believed it to be morally toxic. The novel went through two small printings in Britain before being suppressed. In the same year there was a continental printing in English, from the more liberal Parisian publishers, Pegasus Press.
