FIRST EDITION. 2 Large 8vo volumes. (10.2 x 8 inches). Illustrated with 2 maps, 8 colour plates and 260 illustrations from mono photographs by the Author. Some minor foxing to the blank reverse of the portrait frontis in volume one otherwise a bright and clean copy throughout. In the publishers dark blue cloth bindings with gilt lettering to the spines. Front panels with circular device in gilt, green, blue and silver with four illustrations alongside, all in gilt and within a shield border. In the rare original dustwrappers with dark blue lettering to spine and front panels with cut out holes on the front panels to show the circular emblem. Some very minor chipping to the edges of the wrapper for volume one, volume two's wrapper with a large thumb sized area of loss to the front panel and a little more chipping to the extremities. Overall a lovely tidy set of books kept in wonderful condition by the still very good original publishers dustwrappers.
