Charles Scribner's Sons. New York. 1911.
FIRST WYETH EDITION, first issue (with page 123 misprinted as "23" in the Contents list). 4to. Illustrated with colour pictorial title page and 14 colour plates, each with printed tissue guards. Original black cloth with gilt lettered spine. A colour illustration is mounted onto the front cover. Pictorial endpapers. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Rear joint a little shaken, a few marks to back cover, a couple of nicks at head and tail of spine but overall a very good copy. Wyeth's Treasure Island was a huge success which led to Scribner quickly commissioning him to illustrate other children's classic titles for them, all of which are still in print today. One of the best illustrated editions.
