Reprint of the original 1894 edition. 66 fine line illustrations by Beardsley, 25 new designs for this edition and 41 reprinted from earlier volumes issued in the Bon-Mots series. A few light spots to some of the pages but generally a very good copy in a fine early 20th century leather binding, possibly executed in 1922, of full burgundy crushed morocco. Both boards and spine with elaborate gilt decoration. Spine also lettered in gilt. Plain grey endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. All edges gilt. A neat pencil note inside the rear cover might be a clue to the binder and date of the binding; 'MMXXI. A. EE.'. A couple of tiny holes to the bottom ninge but overall this is a very good and highly attractive binding. --- Lasner. Checklist of the published work of Aubrey Beardsley.
