SEVENTH EDITION. Two volumes. 8vo. (8.5 x 5.5 inches). Volume One: Title page, 1pp, Preface, 2pp, Grammar, 29pp, Alphabets, 1pp, Dictionary A-K 576pp. --- Volume Two: Title page, Dictionary L-Z, 546pp. Pages generally clean and bright. A very good copy in attractive 18th century full brown calf bindings. Flat spines with red title labels, decorated and lettered in gilt, and dark green number labels with decorative gilt tooling and circular red morocco number pieces, gilt. Compartments ruled and fully decorated in gilt. Board edges with gilt line decorations. Some old worm damage to the leather, volume one the worst with several holes to the rear hinge and along the spine. Volume two is much better with just two small areas of loss the the spine. Despite this, the bindings are still very presentable. --- This seventh edition is not recorded by Courtney & Smith but conforms to the first abridged edition of 1756.
