LIMITED EDITION. One of 250 numbered copies on Dutch paper, from a total edition of 260. 4to. (11.7 x 8 inches). 94pp, plus colophon leaf. Some very light spotting to the blank endpapers otherwise a clean and bright copy throughout in publishers original full tan pigskin binding. Elaborate blind stamped design to both boards and spine. Front board and spine lettered in gilt. Plain white endpapers. Top edge gilt, the others untrimmed. Some rubbing to the leather on the binding. Overall a very good copy of this uncommon edition. Contains 38 works by the famed 16th century Spanish poet Garcilaso de la Vega, plus index, notes and a short biography. The first book to appear in the UK in Linotype Estienne Old Face type, printed by the designer, George W. Jones at The Sign of The Dolphin, London. There were also ten copies printed on vellum.
